INTIAL STRATEGY The initial study of the map showed three main areas to contend with, 1. The front section - several roads broken with farms and fields some forest 3 VPs 2 airports 2. The ravine and river crossing - forest, swamps, sectional & steep banks (up & down both sides) several minor VPs and reinforcements points 3. The back section - forest and hills many VPs (2 higher values) & airports This information was used with the goals of the game in mind to form a loose strategy of speed over strength. TIME TABLE Working backwards from turn 25 a time table of event formulated as follow: 25 Control all VPs 16-24 Engage the enemy units in section 3 8-15 Control the ravine and cross the river 1- 7 Control section 1 To achieve this time table speed again was an issue. INTIAL CONCLUSION FORCES: LTs for the main force with a few HTs for support. When the airports were controlled a couple of HAs, 3 INF and 5 LTs to transport then, maximum planes when airports were safe of overruns. ENG as required at river with extras if required to control VPs in section three. PLAN OF ATTACK: Three prong attack in section 1 with repair and marshaling while planes cleared out ravine, move into ravine with two main fronts in the north and middle section, the HAs and a few LTs to the south to make a run for the section 3 airports, bring up planes and clear out uncontrolled VPs FINAL STRATEGY FORCES: Turn 1 - 30 LTs 5 HTs Turn 3 - 2 HAs 3 INF 5 LTs Turn 5 - 4 Planes Turn 6 - 4 Planes Turn 10 - 14 - ENG as required The main force was divided into 3 units consisting of: 1. Northern Unit 12 LTs and 1 HT 2. Middle Unit 8 LTs and 2 HTs 3. Southern Unit 10 LTs and 2 HTs The 1st unit made a speed run to the northern airport with a loss 8 LTs and the HT but controlled the airport and VP by turn 4. The 2nd unit did the same to the middle ground with a loss 1 HT and 5 LTs but controlled the middle VP by turn 3. The 3rd unit had a harder time of things with the loss 1 HT and 8 LTs and did not gain control of airport until turn 5 and VP on turn 6. At turn 3 the HAs, INF and LTs started to move forward - 1 LT and 1 INF to each VP - 2HAs and 2 LTs to the southern VP in the ravine. Final clean up of section completed turn 7 Planes started taking out 20pt VPs in section 3 as well as ART that could reach over the ravine then 10pt VPs in the ravine the all the other ART and units they could reach while repairs and marshaling of units took place before they moved into the ravine (turn 9-12) once it was cleared. For the push into section 3 the northern consisted of 5 LTs the middle 4 LTs and 2 HTs with the southern unit the remainder. The HAs were setup just below the ridge of the ravine to clear a path for a speed run to the airport for a couple of LTs Gained control of airport turn 19-20 moved remaining planes (6 or 7 not sure now) forward and eliminated enemy turn 21 took further 2 turns to get into all remaining VPs. Earl resigned turn 23.
